Welcome to the Summer Fun Blog Series

Hello Inspire Books writing community,

If you have ever read one of my Inspire Books articles or blogs, you already know a little bit about how I think about writing. But you may not know the full picture yet. This summer, I am changing that.

Starting now, I’m running a Summer Fun Blog Series for writers. I’ll walk you through several stages of The Writer’s LifeCycle. I will be sharing my most effective, yet non-traditional methods for The Self-Publishing Author. These unconventional pieces of advice are meant to encourage you as you discover just how much you enjoy the creative journey. Each blog will cover a couple of different stages along the way. I will share supplemental resources that you can download for free, purchase to work alongside it, or even watch on my YouTube channel.

Throughout the rest of this summer, I’ll share posts covering different stages of the process. Each will focus on creative and divergent methods, to help get your own creative writing juices flowing. These are not just the standard advice you have already read about, but methods you can test for yourself.

Depending on the post, you might find a free PDF printable, a purchasable Word fillable or printable, or a purchasable interactive Excel spreadsheet to go along with it. I may also include a YouTube video on my own channel to walk you through the blog content more in depth.

This week, I’m sharing some of my most unusual methods for brainstorming. You’ll learn how dream journaling can help you brainstorm your next project, how alternative methods can help you recognize your themes, and how randomized ideas can be transformed into stories. Some of these methods may not be what you are expecting.

Stay tuned for the Brainstorming post coming soon and more unconventional blogs for writers all summer long!

With all that in mind, I want to take this post to introduce you to a project I have been working on: The Writer’s LifeCycle: Self-Publishing for Authors. If you’re new here, I want you to know what this is and why it matters to me, and what it can mean for you, before anything else makes sense. Scroll down to read more about this resource I created for writers just like you.

Happy Writing!

So, What is The Writer’s LifeCycle?

The Writer’s LifeCycle is my personal framework for the entire self-publishing journey, giving a specific name and place to every stage a writer goes through. From the first idea all the way to running your book like a business.

The journey moves sequentially through fifteen distinct stages, beginning with Brainstorming, Research, Planning, and Outlining for nonfiction or Plotting for fiction. From there, it transitions into Marketing to analyze the industry, followed by the core stages of Writing, Resting, Revising and Editing. Finally, the cycle guides you completely through the production and business operations, wrapping up with Designing, Formatting, Publishing,

Advertising, Selling and Operating.

Other guidebooks on the market do cover these topics, but The Writer’s LifeCycle is structured as a three-book series so you can easily skip around. You can pull out the exact book you need and focus entirely on the specific stage you are working on right now.

The Writer’s Lifecycle book series will cover all of it—from brainstorming to operating your book business. I’ve created some useful tools and resources that will help you get through each Stage of The Writer’s LifeCycle.

The Three Book Series

The Writer’s Lifecycle: Self-Publishing for Authors is broken into three books.

Book 1 of 3, Pre-Writing Process, covers Brainstorming, Researching, Planning, and Outlining/Plotting (Parts 1-4).

Book 2 of 3, Writing Process, covers Marketing, Writing, Resting, Revising & Editing, and Designing & Formatting (Parts 1-5).

Book 3 of 3, Publishing Process, covers Publishing, Advertising, Selling, and Operating (Parts 1-4).

Want to Read the Books Before Anyone Else?

I'm putting together a Beta Reader group for each book in the series. Book 1, Pre-Writing Process for Self-Publishing Authors, is a quick read between 25,000 and 30,000 words. You'll be able to pick one part, a few, or all of it: Brainstorming, Researching, Planning, or Outlining/Plotting, and try out all of the resources I've created for whichever stage you choose.

Watch for details soon on how to join!
